⁹ This was to fulfill the word he had spoken, “I did not lose any of those you gave me.”^[a]

¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, slicing off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. ¹¹ Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword back into its scabbard! Am I not to drink the cup^[b] that the Father has given me?”
